                SCHOOL AGE CONFIDENCE

School Age Programs (WEEKENDS)

Kids in school face so many new adventures. Sometimes those adventures are exciting and easy, and sometimes they can be scary and challenging. Throw in new feelings, emotions, academic demands, peer groups and peer pressure, and the all of the changes that occur as a child journeys through the school age years. This is why we want to ensure that kids have a place (outside of home) where they can be themselves. To come to a place where we ooze fun and games. Where we can learn about sports, but play games that allow kids to be… well kids. We know that this time also opens up the opportunities to talk about those tricky topics. Self-esteem, body confidence, overcoming challenges, being resilient. All in all, we are a place where we help kids to become more confident in themselves. And Mum’s and Dads? You’re our biggest allies in this. We can only do so much in the 40 minutes we get with them each week. That is why we also spend so much time empowering YOU and giving you the tools, tips, and knowledge to bring confidence into your homes.

Featherbrook College, Point Cook:

 School Age Programs (IN SCHOOLS)

 Like we said before, 40 minutes a week is just not enough for us to make the impact on kids confidence that we aim for. So in addition to Saturdays, Fit Kicks also runs programs in select schools in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Depending on the arrangements with the individual schools, these can run before school, during school, and/or after school. 

Term 1, 2020 School programs:

  • Alamanda College, Point Cook, Victoria
  • Lumen Christi Primary School, Point Cook, Victoria
  • Queen of Peace Primary School, Altona Meadows, Victoria

 

Temporarily Postponed Due to Covid19

Due to the close physical contact involved in the Preschool and School Age Confidence programs, we are responding to all advice and directives of the Health Minister in Victoria, Australia. This means that for the safety of your children, our coaches, and all the family members who come along each week, we will temporarily postpone all in-person classes until we are safe to resume in the near future.

My child is very shy. What if they don't wan't to participate every time?

That’s okay! We meet kids with all different personalities, and shyness is a very common one! The way we interact with each child is really important to us. When your child starts their journey at Fit Kicks, we prioritize getting to know their name, what they like, and a little bit about them so that we can tailor how we engage them into each class. That might mean we give your child space to explore cautiously if that is what they need. We will encourage, excite, and invite them to play on their terms. As their confidence grows, they will naturally start to interact and participate more and more. We see this exact child every class so fear not. You and your child will be okay!

My child has never done something like this before. Is that okay?

Fantastic! How exciting this will be to get to watch them experience something new! Everything will be okay. Our coaches will get to know your child AND you, and help both of you ease your way into the program at the pace that feels best to you both. 

What does my child need to bring?

We suggest that every child has a drink bottle as we take many water breaks throughout class. (They will also get a sticker at the end of class and many kids like to put their sticker on the drink bottle. For that alone, the drink bottle is a must! Hands are also just as good!)  In addition, a good pair of running shoes, a parent or guardian (who must remain for the class), their Fit Kicks top if they have one, and a snack for after (as most kids are “staaaaaarrrrrrrrving” after. Obviously.) Any medications if needed are also a good idea (such as  if they have asthma or an Epipen, but I am sure you are already on top of all that!)
